| Meet Lucas |
“Lucas is a very special puppy,” says JoAnne. “Bichon Frises are so good with children and we wanted a companion for our little granddaughter. We lost our son in 2008 and we have custody of his daughter who was 20 months old at the time of his accident. She was so lost without her Dad and so we thought that getting her a puppy would help her. It did and she is so happy and very close to Lucas.”
Choosing a Bichon Frise was an easy decision. Locating one, however, was a challenge.
Mail Order Dog
“Finding Lucas was a real chore,” remembers JoAnne. “The Bichon Frise is hard to find in our area. So I went looking on the Internet until I found a reliable kennel. I had never ordered a pet online before and, needless to say, I was very worried.” But JoAnne was reassured by the kennel owners, “some of the nicest people,” she says, “who helped me so much.”
“I thought to myself, what was I thinking!
Buying a puppy in another state
without seeing him first!”

When they picked Lucas up from the airport, “he looked terrible,” JoAnne recalls. “His hair was all stuck to him. He looked like he had been throwing up all day and he smelled so bad. I thought to myself, what was I thinking! Buying a puppy in another state without seeing him first!”
“We brought him home and gave him a bath and he was perfect and beautiful and our new baby. He is so loved in our home.”
And no wonder. The Bichon Frise, sometimes referred to as the cotton ball of dogs, is known to be friendly, happy, loving and a wonderful companion. They get along well with children — and everybody else.
Lapping Up The Love
“He’s such a lap dog and he stays in someone’s lap most of the time. I would say he is VERY spoiled,” says JoAnne. He does get a LOT of attention. He’s a good dog!”
“We are as glad to see him as he is us!”

“He is so loving,” JoAnne continues. “He gets excited when Hannah gets up in the morning and starts jumping when she walks in the room.” When his family comes home, Lucas “runs around and jumps,” JoAnne reports. “We are as glad to see him as he is us! He is so cute.”
He’s smart, too. “If he does something he wasn’t supposed to do,” says JoAnne, “he will go hide under the table. He loves cheese and if he hears the paper sound from the cheese wrapper he runs to the fridge. It’s so cute.”
Outings for an Outgoing Dog
He may be a lap dog, but Lucas gets around. “Every now and then,” explains JoAnne, “he gets this burst of energy and runs around and around. Then we go to the park or for a walk.”
“Lucas loves to go riding in the car
and he has his own car seat.”

Lucas also loves the beach, and he gets to go a lot. “My daughter lives about 5 miles from us,” JoAnne says, “and he loves to go visit her dogs, a Bichon and a Cocker Spaniel. Their names are Coco and Archie. Lucas loves to go riding in the car and he has his own car seat. He does still get a little car sick every now and then.”
In fact, it was Lucas’s sensitive stomach that prompted JoAnne to try BLUE.
Lucas and BLUE
“Blue Buffalo food is wonderful for our Lucas,” JoAnne reports. “When we first got Lucas he couldn’t keep his food down very long before he threw it up. He has a very sensitive stomach. We tried several foods before I started looking at the types of food online and discovered Blue Buffalo. He has been on it most of his life now. He loves it and it’s good for him. He doesn’t throw up anymore.”
“Lucas has been such a blessing to
our whole family.”

“He loves the dry food Chicken and Brown Rice,” JoAnne says. “He loves the Apples and Yogurt health bars, too. Those are his special treats. He expects one of those every morning after he goes outside.”
“Lucas has been such a blessing to our whole family, JoAnne acknowledges. “We only want the best for him. I love this food and will keep him on it all his life. Which I hope will be for a long, long time.”
