Meet Mona
For pet parents Susan and Dave, bringing Mona into their lives was an easy decision. “My husband Dave and I decided our cat, Lucy, needed a companion after our dog passed away," Susan says. "A friend at church had found a stray kitty that she couldn't keep, so we went over to meet "Mona" and it was love at first sight!

Breakfast Treats, The Newspaper, And Squirrel-Watching.

A typical day for Mona starts around 5:30 am. “I hear a loud purr then a brush of whiskers by my nose and an occasional head butt,” Susan tells. “It means she's ready for some breakfast treats." Susan continues, “she loves to lay on her back and let the heat register tickle her tummy fur as Dave gets ready for work. I usually play with her and her "squid toy on a string" as my coffee is brewing. Then she likes to sprawl across the newspaper as I'm reading it and enjoying coffee.”

“She loves to lay on her back and let
the heat register tickle her tummy...”

Mona will wander down to the large windows in the family room and watch for squirrels, chipmunks and chatter with the birds—then it’s naptime in the sun. Susan adds, “usually after dinner she crawls up on a lap and stretches out with a huge grin on her face. She's just relaxing and enjoying the moment!”

Mona Loves The Water

Mona is a very curious kitty. “One day we came home from work and Mona was all wet,” Susan says. “We soon discovered that she was fascinated by water—she had fallen in the toilet! Ever since then, we keep our lids closed."

The Mouse Incident

Susan recounts one memorable episode with Mona. “Once we had a real live mouse in the family room and Mona thought it was a toy for us "humans". Dave and I chased it around for 45 minutes while Mona and Lucy were perched on the back of the sofa just watching! If only a cat could talk.”

“Mona thought it was a
toy for us 'humans'.”

Mona is also known to follow Susan whenever possible. “Sometimes we’ll hike in our woods or pull weeds in the garden together. She's not a worldly traveler, doesn't like the ride to the vet too much. She's very vocal about that, and scolds me the whole trip there.”

Susan sums up Mona this way. “She's always wearing a grin. Her motor is always running and she loves people!”
