Meet Hermione
When Eric and Joy saw Hermione at the animal shelter, they were struck by her immediately. But Hermione turned out to be more than just a fluffy Persian kitten. She was an athlete.

Score One for the Goalie!

"Hermione loved playing with her soft foam cat balls," Eric remembers. "She played with nothing else. I would throw the ball to her and she would bat it down and smack it all over the place. After a while, I decided to play soccer with her. She was the goalie and I had to try and get it past her. If the ball hit the wall, I scored. If she blocked it, she scored on me. Hermione, needless to say, is a great goalie and I lost every time."

Daily Tanning Session

"Once we open the blinds," Eric continues, "she will sit there most of the day. She basks in the sun as she sits in hopes to one day catch a bird or anything that moves outside."

"Everyone has witnessed this,
so I did not make this up."

"Hermione is the most unique cat I have ever seen," Eric says. "I have grown up with cats and never had one like her. When she looks outside at birds, she will (what I call) cackle at them while moving her tail back in forth like a whip." This "cackling" also occurs when she rolls on the floor to get attention from Eric. "She will not do this with anyone in the family but her daddy," Eric insists. "Everyone has witnessed this, so I did not make this up."

"When she is done tanning and consuming the required amount of vitamin D," Eric continues, "she will get something to eat and drink."

Purrfectly Fine With Allergic Relatives

Hermione is an inside cat who doesn't get out much. She gets carsick quickly, says Eric, due to her sensitive stomach. So her travel is limited. "She does, however, like when people come to the house," Eric says. "Hermione will not just go up to any of our friends. She is very observant and particular. When she observes and comes up to you, she will sit on your lap and purr. She likes to sleep with my sister-in-law who has asthma and allergies that are irritated by cats, but she adores Hermione. She also enjoys my mother-in-law who has allergies, but loves talking and sitting with Hermione.

Sensitive Stomach, Delicate Sensibilities

Hermione is quite particular about her surroundings. "She rules the house because we have to clean up after her all the time," says Eric.

"Hermione definitely feels she is in charge
and she allows us to live and sleep here."

The Rhino and The Bear

"The funniest moment," Eric says, "is what I call 'The Rhino and The Bear.' One day Hermione and her companion Harry were not happy with one another. They seemed to have had a disagreement. Harry would get up on his hind legs and smack Hermione with his front paws. Harry has long arms and long claws. Hermione is very hairy and has short claws. Apparently Hermione could not always get the best of Harry, but she soon figured it out. When Harry got up on his back legs to smack Hermione around a bit, Hermione charged him and hit him right in the chest with her head, knocking him down. Then she would either pounce on him or run after him. Funniest thing I ever saw. Fortunately," concludes Eric, "they both get along very well."

BLUE and Hermione

Eric and Joy started feeding BLUE cat food to Hermione as the result of an illness. "Something was really wrong with Hermione," Eric recalls. "The doctor said she had Hepatic lipidosis. This is a liver dysfunction some cats get from something they may have eaten. She had to have surgery right away. Jaundice set in all over her insides and the way the doctors looked, it didn't look good. We were very upset. At the time Hermione was only 3 years old."

"After the surgery," Eric continues, "I had to feed her through a feeding tube. The doctors said if she didn't start eating on her own, she would not make it. I had to feed her four syringes of diluted cat food twice a day until she was eating on her own."

"Within 3 days I had her eating dry food. Three days later they took her feeding
tube out and she is alive today."

"The way the doctors sounded," says Eric, "Hermione had a ways to go before she was better and in my opinion - the way they were acting - most cats with this disease do not survive. Hermione wanted to live and I saw it in her eyes. I was determined to do all I could for her.

At this point, I was on my own, trying to figure out how to get Hermione to eat on her own. I figured if I took away one syringe at feeding time she might eat her dry food. Within three days I had her eating dry food. Three days later they took her feeding tube out and she is alive today. Hermione was still not eating the way she should, but she was eating. I wanted the best cat food I could find. As I looked at all the cat foods and read just about all of them, I came across BLUE cat food. When I looked at the back and read every word, I said this was the cat food for our cats. I was so excited to know that our cats were not getting processed imitation food, they were actually eating food. I bought the Deboned White Fish BLUE Longevity Mature brand cat food. They love it! After a day or so, Hermione was back to normal because of BLUE Cat Food.

I want to thank you for keeping my Hermione alive with your great food. You guys work diligently to keep our cats happy and purring."
